Feather yarn, also known as eyelash yarn, is a popular novelty fancy yarn. It adopts a double-layer structure with core base yarn and vertical fluffy filaments protruding outward, creating a delicate feather-like appearance. Finished fabric features soft, voluminous and hazy hand feel, widely applied in winter fashion knitwear and home textiles.

**Composition**
Standard: **100% Polyester**
Custom blend: Polyester+Nylon for better filament fastness & less shedding; Acrylic blend for higher bulkiness.

**Suitable Machines**

- Computer flat knitting machine: 3G /5G /7G coarse gauge. Fine gauge ≥12G is not recommended, long fibers may cause needle hooking.
- Coarse gauge single jersey circular knitting machine: reduce running speed and keep gentle yarn tension to prevent fiber shedding.
- Hand knitting & crochet; lace and tape weaving machine for decorative trims.

**Disadvantages**

1. Floating feather filaments will shed slightly. Fabric resin finishing is recommended to reduce fiber loss.
2. Long surface fibers are prone to snagging, not suitable for high-abrasion applications.
3. Risk of needle wrapping during knitting, limited production speed, higher waste rate than regular yarn.
4. Lower tenacity than normal yarn, over-tension will cause heavy filament drop.

**Care Instruction**
Cold water gentle cycle, wash inside out. Avoid heavy rubbing and wash separately from light-colored clothes. Flat dry, do not tumble dry at high temperature, high heat will harden the feather filaments.
